Utkarsh (Oggy) Sarawgi is an MS & AI Researcher at MIT and an incoming AI/ML Rotational Engineer at Apple. With a strong background in Machine Learning research and software engineering, he has designed and implemented end-to-end ML and software solutions with multiple data modalities such as time-series signals, speech, text, images, and 3D. He has a publication record in top AI conferences and has worked on data collection and annotation, visualization, analytics, simulation, preprocessing, ML modelling, evaluation, and real-time deployment. At Apple, he will be working on ML modeling and software integration for new features of Siri across Apple devices in different domains and languages. He will be a part of the Siri Perception team, which includes the Speaker Segmentation & Recognition team, Production Modeling team, and Personal & Private Learning team. Prior to joining Apple, Utkarsh was an AI Research Intern at Samsung Research, where he spearheaded the development of a new idea for Samsung phones into a computer vision project. He designed, implemented, and tested the end-to-end backend dataflow and algorithmic pipeline using depth vision. He also developed and demoed the project’s user experience and application flow. Utkarsh's master's thesis at MIT was on "Uncertainty-Aware Ensembling in Multi-Modal AI and its Applications in Digital Health for Neurodegenerative Disorders." He worked in the Fluid Interfaces group on several projects around AI for healthcare, accessibility, and human augmentation, including novel uncertainty estimation algorithms. Utkarsh completed his SM in Interdisciplinary Research with a focus on AI and HCI from MIT and his B.E. (Hons) in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. He has a strong tech stack that includes AI, ML, Research Scientist, Integration, Computer Vision, test, Mobile, and Backend. With 1.79 years of relevant experience, Utkarsh is a highly skilled and accomplished AI/ML researcher and software engineer.
